2025 Featured Friend of the Foundation

The Oncology Nursing Foundation is thankful for our many friends in the oncology nursing community. ONF is pleased to recognize Cassandra Green, DNP, MSN, RN, OCN®, with the 2025 Friend of the Foundation Award. 

Green has been a steadfast champion of the Oncology Nursing Foundation, demonstrating her commitment through her financial support and tireless advocacy. Her commitment only intensified after personally benefiting from an ONF academic scholarship. A proud member and participant of various ONS Chapters within the state of Texas and President of the ONCC Board of Directors, Cassandra shares that donating to the Foundation is an investment in your colleagues. 

“Being honored as the Friend of the Foundation by the Oncology Nursing Foundation is the highlight of my career. The Foundation supported my educational journey by providing a scholarship toward my doctorate degree, which focused on improving lung cancer screenings in primary care,” Green said. 

“I once heard a Foundation Board member state that if every oncology nurse gave a little, it would make a huge impact. That reminded me that it takes a village, which needs everyone in it to succeed. To now receive this honor is a heartfelt reminder that my efforts help to champion the extraordinary work of oncology nurses and to inspire future oncology nurses.”

The Oncology Nursing Society created the Oncology Nursing Foundation in 1981 to accept charitable contributions to advance these important activities on behalf of oncology nursing. The mission of the Oncology Nursing Foundation is to support oncology nursing excellence. Thanks to the generosity of individuals and institutions, since its inception, the Oncology Nursing Foundation has awarded more than $33 million in funding for oncology nursing education, research, and leadership development, giving nurses the opportunity to pursue excellence in delivering care to patients with cancer.
