Excellence in Oncology Nursing Volunteerism Award

Eligibility Criteria:

The award will be based on the following criteria, which will be validated to ensure accuracy and alignment with the award criteria prior to entering the selection process.  

• An eligible nominee:  

  • Has been actively engaged in volunteering nationally in any or all of the Oncology Nursing Society (ONS), Oncology Nursing Foundation (ONF), or Oncology Nursing Certification Corporation (ONCC) for at least three years immediately preceding the nomination 

  • Has shown consistent and exceptional volunteer service to ONS, ONF, or ONCC at the national or local level, including serving in leadership positions and mentoring others 

  • Has contributed completely on a volunteer basis, without pay (Expense reimbursement is allowed.) 

• The scoring criteria for judging this nomination packet is as follows: 

  • Demonstrates consistent and significant involvement in volunteer activities in one or more of the enterprise corporations 

  • Is reliable and honors commitments to the volunteer activities 

  • Works collaboratively and respectfully with other volunteers and staff 

  • Promotes volunteerism with the organizations as a positive experience and professional development opportunity 

  • Mentors less experienced volunteers and inspires others to become involved  

  • Exhibits high standards of professional integrity, responsibility, and ethics 

  • Makes significant contributions in advancing the organization’s mission and goals 

  • Displays leadership, formally or informally, and guides others in meeting expectations of the volunteer role 

Exclusions:

• This award is not eligible for self-nomination.

• Do not wait until the last day to start an application, as a quality and competitive application will take time to complete.
